Derek starred as Jackson Landry, an arrogant children's rock star, in 'Kid Gloves,' a new musical comedy staged reading directed by Richard Israel with music by Nathan Wang and lyrics & book by Matthew Leavitt.

​After a 6 month sold-out run at UCB, The Bachelor Musical has been extended to a full hour and moved to The Dynasty Typewriter Theatre in downtown LA.

"Married. No Kids.", A short film Derek co-wrote, produced and starred in with his wife, Jenna Carley was nominated for 'Best Comedy Short' at the Oregon Short Film Festival screening in Portland on February 23rd.

Derek starred as Mark Partridge in The Mollyhouse, a new musical currently being workshopped for Broadway. The production was directed by Richard Israel with music by Divya Maus and lyrics & book by Richard Hanson.

Derek played the lead role in IAMA Theatre Company's reading of The Future Perfect, a new musical workshop. The reading was directed by Kristin Hanggi with music and lyrics by Ben Decter. 

"Bachelor: The Musical" was given a run at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Los Angeles this fall. Derek stars as the Bachelor in the 30-minute staged musical comedy playing once a month at UCB for the foreseeable future!

Derek will star as Vincent Van Gogh in a new musical adaptation of his life's story July 28th and 29th in Los Angeles. Music and Lyrics by Matt Dahan. Book and lyrics by Kelly Lynne D'Angelo.

Derek is starring as the Bachelor in the Bachelor Musical Parody by Richelle Meiss currently being workshopped at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in LA. The next performance will be July 30th at 10:30pm (UCB Sunset)

Derek played the title role in the world premier of Bronco Billy The Musical currently being workshopped for Broadway. The production was directed by Kristin Hanggi with music by Chip Rosenbloom and John Torres and lyrics by John Torres and Michele Brourman.

Derek starred as Private Robert E. Lee Prewitt in the Broadway-bound production of From Here to Eternity at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine. 

Derek was nominated for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Sam Wheat in 'Ghost the Musical' at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse.

Derek guest starred as 'Dennis' on the Season 2 premier of 'My Crazy Sex' on the Lifetime Movie Network.

In addition to the show being nominated for Best Musical, Derek was nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Principal Role for his portrayal of Jervis Pendleton in the two-person musical 'Daddy Long Legs' at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley last November.

Derek played the role of Sam Wheat (made famous by Patrick Swayze) in the musical adaptation of the 1990 blockbuster GHOST at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse.
